Event description

Description

Welcome to the sixth annual 90-Second Newbery Film Festivala yearly video contest in which kid filmmakers create movies that tell the entire stories of Newbery award-winning books in about 90 seconds. We screen the best movies annually in New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Portland, and many other citiesand in 2017, for the second year in a row, in San Antonio!

Make your FREE reservation to the SAN ANTONIO screening of this year's 90-Second Newbery! The screening is hosted by film festival founder and children's author James Kennedy (The Order of Odd-Fish) and Texas author Nikki Loftin (The Sinister Sweetness of Splendid Academy).

The movies we've received are hilarious, ingenious, and inspiring. We'll be showing movies received from San Antonio and a few from elsewhere too.

This year, the San Antonio 90-Second Newbery will screen on Saturday, January 21 from 3-5 pm at the Charlene McCombs Empire Theatre (226 North Saint Mary's Street, San Antonio, TX).

Tickets are free! However, we recommend reserving your seat in advance to ensure admittance.

We rely on your donations to keep it going. If you like us, please help us out! We run this film festival on a shoestring. No donation is too small. You can make your tax-deductible donation here.

The 90-Second Newbery Film Festival is under the fiscal sponsorship of the Northwestern Settlement 501(c)(3).

Major support is provided by Bexar County's Digital Library Bibliotech and H-E-B Texas Grocery.
