About this Event

Together in Hope: Multifaith Gatherings for Community Transformation

The journey to a more just and peaceful world is long and discouraging, but we are not alone. In this series of gatherings, online and maybe someday in person, we'll come together in our diversity reaching forward to unity with prayer, poetry, art, music, dance, and conversation. With different gifts and different faiths, connected by love and care, we’ll grapple with some of the deep divisions fraying the fabric of America and our local community: educational inequity, law enforcement, protest and patriotism. A commemorative work of art will be created and sold to benefit a shared project addressing injustice in greater Williamsburg. This series is hosted by HART, Historic Area Religions Together, a Williamsburg multi-faith organization.

9 Little Indians: Race and Education

Join us for our first multi-faith gathering as we grapple with the realities of racial inequity in our education system - then and now, with an eye toward a just future. Gathered and sent in prayer, our program will feature artwork from Steve Prince, "9 Little Indians," in commemoration of the Little Rock 9; a performance from Leah Glenn, "Youngest of Nine," in tribute to Carlotta Walls Lanier; and a conversation with Leah Glenn, Steve Prince, Aaron Butler, and Natoya Haskins as we grapple with racial inequity in our school system.
