Join the Silicon Valley SBDC, the County of Santa Clara, City of San Jose and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Silicon Valley and the Industry Council for Small Business Development, for informative and inspirational workshops, networking and resources for you and your business, in celebration of National Small Business Week.

10:30am County of Santa Clara Business Matchmaking Sessions

The County has scheduled business matchmaking appointments with select County Departments and interested attendees. All business matchmaking appointments were scheduled in advance via email, available to all who registered to attend the Summit. If you requested a meeting, please refer to your email correspondence. All appointments will take place in Room 157.

Workshops will include two tracks that will take place in the Board Chambers and Isaac Newton Auditorium.

BOARD CHAMBERS – PROCUREMENT WORKSHOPS

10:25am – 11:25am Construction: Bay area organizations discuss their specific needs in construction, engineering and construction related services.

Speaker: Sam Ho, Director, Communications/Community Relations & Diversity at San Jose Evergreen Community College District

Speaker: David French, CIP Procurement Manager, City of San Jose

Speaker: Miquel “Mick” Penn, Community Relations Liaison, Swinerton Construction

Operations: It takes a broad array of products and services for organizations to maintain operations. This workshop will focus on the needs of several organizations in this broad category.

Speaker: Christopher Harder, Procurement Supervisor/ATOM, NASA/Ames Research Center, CA

11:45am – 12:30pm Information Technology: Information technology is rapidly changing. Listen as a variety of organizations discuss their current and future plans in the IT space.

ISAAC NEWTON – BUILD YOUR BUSINESS WORKSHOPS

10:25am – 11:10am Certifications: Have you thought about what certifications are right for your company? This workshop will help you decide what certifications you need to stay competitive.

Subcontracting: Sometimes the best way to a contract with a specific company is through that company’s prime contractors. Learn more about opportunities in the subcontracting space.

11:25am – 12:30pm Access to Capital: What are lenders looking for? Access to capital is critical in preparing for a contract. Find out more about: preparing for a loan, eligibility guidelines, and financing options available. Also learn how to receive support in completing a loan application.

Bidding/Bonding: Effectively responding to a bid is critical to the success of your business. Learn what corporations look for in a winning bid.

Please note, this location is serviced by the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) light rail and bus lines 61, 62, 66 and 181.

Paid parking available in the Parking Structure at 171 W Hedding Street directly across from the courthouse.

Free Valet Parking is available in the surface parking lot at the corner of North San Pedro Street and West Hedding Street.
