Event description

Description

This year's RJ@MSU Symposium will center on successful restorative practices that help to create healthier environments among people in relationship by virtue of their family, work, school and/or community.

We are thrilled to welcome lifelong Detroit resident, Pastor of Berean Chapel of Detroit, and the Michigan Regional Representative for the International Institute for Restorative Practices (IIRP), Mr. Henry McClendon as our keynote speaker. Henry has an impressive lifespan of service including but not limited to; Executive Assistant to Detroit mayor Coleman A. Young, Sr.; Southeast Michigan Area Director for Prison Fellowship Ministries; Director of Youth Development for New Detroit, Inc.; Program Officer for the Skillman Foundation; and Retired U.S. Army Reserve Officer. His current effort for the IIRP in Detroit is focused on the infusion of Restorative Practices into the multiple systems that directly impact children and families.

Please join us as we gather in a common hope and desire to build stronger, healthier communities that further our shared educational mission. We will leave this session with an overview of Restorative Practices and at least one tool we can use to advance our community work.
