8th Annual National Day of Prayer Breakfast
Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 7:45 AM to 9:30 AM (EDT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
The 8th Annual EMF Prayer Breakfast will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Holiday Inn-Conference Center at FSK Mall, 5400 Holiday Drive in Frederick, Maryland, starting at 7:45 a.m. The Prayer Breakfast is a local observance of the 65th National Day of Prayer and is sponsored by the Evangelical Ministerial Fellowship of Frederick.
The theme for 2016 is Wake Up, America, emphasizing the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to place their faith in the unfailing character of their Creator, who is sovereign over all governments, authorities, and men. To further highlight the theme, the Scripture chosen is from Isaiah 58:1a: “Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet.”
What is the National Day of Prayer?
The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.
Why Should I Participate in the National Day of Prayer?
Like Thanksgiving or Christmas, this day has become a national observance annually across the nation. Every year, local, state, and federal observances are held from sunrise in Maine to sunset in Hawaii, uniting Americans from all socio-economic, political and ethnic backgrounds in prayer for our nation. It is estimated that over two million people attend more than 30,000 observances. At state capitols, county court houses, on the steps of city halls, and in schools, businesses, churches and homes, people stop their activities and gather for prayer.
Join us as we pray for our nation and for our national, state and local leaders.
