When & Where
Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Athletics
Founded in 1987, Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College offers two-year associate degrees and certificates across a wide range of program areas, including law enforcement, human services, nursing, business, clean energy and environmental sciences. As part of the Minnesota State College and Universities System (MnSCU), the mission of FDLTCC is to provide higher education opportunities for its communities in a welcoming, culturally diverse environment. Each year, over 1200 students enroll in classes.
Most of our nearly 140 athletes play sports simply for love of the game; we do not provide athletic scholarships. For others, participating in intercollegiate athletics has allowed them an opportunity to continue something familiar during an important life transition—75% of our male athletes and 50% of our female athletes are first generation college students.
Our athletes continually give their all to their sport and their studies. During the last academic year, Thunder athletes maintained a collective 3.0 GPA. Through the Golf Tournament, the College tries to recognize those efforts by providing the necessary resources our student athletes need in order to be competitive on the field--and in life.
National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Review magazine selected FDLTCC as "College of the Month" for January 2014. Our school was selected from the over 500 NJCAA member-colleges nationwide and will be featured on the cover. We are proud to be the first college from Minnesota to receive this honor! The Golf Tournament is the Athletic Department’s primary fundraiser for the year and will help cover on-going costs associated with all six of our Thunder Athletic programs. For example, money raised from this event will help in the purchase of everything from new helmets for our football team to travel costs for our women’s volleyball team to new practice equipment for each of the six teams.
