Session Topics

Handling Difficult Conversations and Difficult Customers
What has avoidance and tough topics cost you or your company? Inability or lack of full confidence to address difficult conversations decreases productivity, morale, and increases stress. Decrease resistance when handling these situations by learning methods that improve your communication and increase the recipients ability to hear the feedback. Be poised, calm and effective. These easy to use approaches help you to effectively eliminate communication snags and decrease excuses for avoiding difficult conversations. Presented by Cindy Krosky

That's My Letter!
Letter knowledge, a strong predictor of future reading success, can be challenging for struggling learners. Help your at-risk students create meaningful connections to letters and sounds with a multisensory approach. Learn practical and effective techniques that can easily be implemented into the preschool classroom. Presented by Elvira Meyerholtz

Healthy Habits
Although the brain takes up less than 10% of a preschooler's weight, it consumes more than 20% of the calories they take in each day. Children require proper nutrition to fuel their rapidly growing and developing brain. Dirung this workshop participants will have the opportunity to learn why it's important to teach healthy eating and physical activity so children can succeed physically and academically. Participants will learn how they can be a change agent and explore tools and resources available to teach healthy habits and make positive changes in the childcare environment, as well as reverse the current rise in childhood obesity. Presented by Kelly Rogers

Music & Movement in Early Childhood
Appropriate musicand movement experiences during the early years support expressive, emotional, intellectual, social and creative growth and develop a foundation upon which all learning is built. Even before the brain research findings, teachers and parents taught their children the alphabet by putting it into a song. Now, based on an abundance of research, we understand why. Music and movement activities prepare young children for more difficult tasks needed later by enabling the brain to work from both hemispheres. In this session you will learn a multitude of music and movement activities that will enhance cognitive development while allowing young children to explore social, emotional, expressive and creative skills. Presented by Debbie Fahamie

Brain Development in Infancy & Early Childhood
We know that infants and toddlers are busy taking in information about their physical and social world every day, but how do they organize information? What is important from a very young child's perspective and what is the child's brain doing in response to all the information? As early childhood educators and care providers, what can we do to strengthen brain development and help reduce risks for children who may face challenges to healthy development? This session will address critical brain development for children in infancy and early childhood and how these early experiences shape a child's ability to learn and be successful as they grow older. Presented by Dr. Tara Saathoff-Wells

Bridging the Gap
Teachers are you struggling to get your parents on board with their child's learning? This session will provide you with strategies that will help you establish a rapport, improve communication and foster a lifelong committment to children's learning. Presented by Kathy Unger

Movin 2 Math TM
Jack makes math, music & movement fun in this stimulating session. Teachers will learn songs, movements and creative classroom ideas to build the following basic math skills: number awareness and basic counting, patterning, counting forward and backward, calendar skills, sequencing, colors, spacial concepts, skip counting and counting by 1's, 2's, 3's, 5's and 10's, greater and less than and more. Presented by Jack Hartmann

Conscious Discipline
Do you love teaching, but like most teachers you don't always love the behavior of your students? This session will teach you how to build a cooperative, caring environment through the School Family. Conflict can push us apart or bring us together. Learn how to move from avoiding conflict to embracing it. Presented by Cyndi Beasley

 Personalize to Mesmerize
Just like the DJ knows your favorite song, or the restaurateur your favorite dish...Use your child's name or familiar fun facts to personalize and mesmerize throughout daily classroom experiences. Children will be drawn in like a magent to the concept lessons you are teaching. Personalizing and mesmerizing works! Presented by Linda Earp

Classroom Management: Enhancing the Learning Experience
Learn how to use classroom routines, labels, scheduling, and transition times to manage classroom activities within a positive environment that promotes engaging teacher-student interactions. Particiants will be able to plan 2 transition activities that model appropriate  positive behaviors for children. Participants will be able to identify 3 problem solving strategies that contribute to the daily schedule and appropriately communicate the schedule to children. Participants will be able to create 3 circle time activities that incorporate different learning styles. Presented by Ron Mohl
