Event description
Our next exhibition is an exciting collaboration between brothers Matthew Roy Arnold (sculpture) and Brendan James Arnold (robotics)

About this Event

KOSAR CONTEMPORARY is delighted to present an intriguing exhibition of immersive sculptures that casts a literal light on the alterations made to our landscape. Each piece is centred around a rock altered with cut facets, paintings and engravings with scored grids contouring the surfaces. This is replicated in plaster and mirrored in reflective materials to present alternates to the original. Within these landscapes, patterned circuit boards and silicon solar cells cluster in formations that evoke the past, present and future of human influence.

Sol invites the viewer to enter a space in which our perception of reality is teasingly undermined; where we are confronted by pieces which allude to the infinite landscapes of mathematics and virtual reality within a physical form. Each artwork is a focal point for meditation on the real and the virtual, whilst serving as an example of how digital technology can be used to build upon traditional sculptural practice.

Opening Event: 13 February 2020 | 7-9 pm

About The Participating Artists:

Brendan James Arnold and Mathew Roy Arnold first exhibited together in 2015 as The Orm , a collaboration with Daniel Cioccoloni. The exhibition Manifestations brought together a series of site-specific interactive light and sound sculptures that shun external references and focus on the physicality of the presented objects. This was followed up with Recursions and Second Recursion exhibited in 2015 and 2016 in London and Bristol where the focus was shifted to landscape and human activity with wall mounted immersive light pieces.

Brendan has a background in superconductor physics and software. Matthew is a graduate of UWE and works within the field of sculpture and drawing. Both artists are based in Bristol.

Concept by Matthew Roy Arnold and Brendan James Arnold.
