Event description

Description

Our 7th Annual Women's Empowerment Conference is from 3pm to 9pm. The conference is geared towards women of all ages from all backgrounds, and its focus is to improve the quality of life for all women. There are four components to our goal; women will engage in physical, mental, spiritual, and financial empowerment activities that will expand their exposure and skill sets with the intent to help them achieve the best possible self. The theme of the conference this year is My Sister’s Keeper. Robin Benway said, “Because there's one thing stronger than magic: sisterhood.” Women shoulder so much of the weight in society: mother, wife, employee, caretaker, teacher, preacher, and cook (just to name a few) all while women's median annual earnings are $9,909 less than men, according to data from the US Census Bureau. We want to empower women to take control of their financial, spiritual, mental, and physical health to develop financial stability to strengthen the family and ultimately improve the community.

Since its inception, the conference has mentored over 500 ladies and helped to improve their quality of life as evident through their testimonials. Some of our guests and speakers from the 6th Annual Conference included mental health professionals, Susan G. Komen Foundation, Louisiana Small Business Development Center, St. Landry Professionals, St. Landry Chamber of Commerce, United Healthcare, belly dancing sessions, and USDA Rural Development. Our list of individuals, groups and organizations for both events is growing, and we would absolutely love for you to get involved with the Family Strong Foundation and our Female Entrepreneur Symposium & Women's Empowerment Conference.
