Description

The 7th annual NIFTI National Field School supports professional development and network building for Incubator Farm Project staff from across the country. The Field School is intended to provide interactive workshops, facilitated resource review sessions and regional networking and goal-setting opportunities. Farm tours and site visits of incubator farm projects and farmer training programs and initiatives in the Boulder/Denver area will be incorporated into the Field School experience. We will also have a reception at the Denver Botanic Gardens.

Schedule of Events

Monday, November 5, 2018: Field trips to farms in the Boulder/Denver area. Simple lunches will be provided. At the conclusion of the tours, we will end the night at a reception at the Denver Botanic Gardens, featuring catered food and drinks and opportunities to network with attendees. Attendees will be able to ride in a bus from Millennium Harvest House in Boulder to all farm sites and will be returned to the hotel after the reception. We have limited spots available for the field trip so book now!

Tuesday + Wednesday November 6+7, 2018: Join us for two full days of engaging sessions about topics related to incubator farmer training and support. Each day includes full catered lunch and ample time for discussions and networking. All sessions will be held at Millennium Harvest House in Boulder.

Accommodations

We encourage all participants to stay with us on site at the Millennium Harvest House in Boulder. Reserve your room here! Our block room rate is $130/night and includes hot breakfast. The group code for our block is 1811NIFTIS.

Rooms are held at this rate until October 6, or until the block sells out. After the block sells out, the group rate is subject to availability.

Produce Safety Alliance (PSA) Grower Training (November 8) and Train-the-Trainer on November 8 + 9 Please note: very limited spots available!

NIFTI Field School attendees have a special opportunity to take part in a very affordable PSA Training after the Field School on November 8 + 9 in Boulder, Colorado. Grower Training is required for producers if their operations are covered under the Produce Safety Rule, more information can be found here. The Train-the-Trainer Course requires attendees to attend both days (Nov 8 + 9), even if attendees have previously taken the Grower Training course. Completing the Train-the-Trainer course allows you to deliver curriculum modules as a trainer in a PSA Grower Training, under the direction of a PSA Lead Trainer. More information is available here. Please note: the prices for PSA Grower Training on this page are ONLY available to those attending the Field School.

Scholarships

A limited number of full/partial registration and travel scholarships are available for the NIFTI Field School, please fill this form out here by September 9 at midnight. Scholarship recipients will be notified by September 21.

Transportation

Please note that registration does NOT include transportation to/from Boulder.

There are two ways to get from DIA (Denver International Airport) to the Millennium Harvest Hotel in Boulder, CO.

1. From the airport, catch the AB1-Downtown Boulder bus at the Denver Airport Station Gate 8. The fare is $9 and must be paid in cash (no change provided); ask for a transfer. Exit the bus at the first Boulder stop, Table Mesa Station. From Table Mesa, you can take the 236-Boulder Junction bus; your fare will be covered by the transfer. Exit the bus at the 28th and Arapahoe Ave stop and walk to the hotel (about .1miles). Total travel time is about 1hr and 15min, depending on the time of day. From the Table Mesa station, you could also use a ride share service, the distance is about 2.5 miles.

2. From the airport, catch the A-line light rail train at the south end of the terminal (follow the signs inside the terminal for the light rail, there is only one line). Tickets can be purchased at the train platform for $9. Hold on to your ticket as you will need it to transfer to a bus later. Take the light rail to the end of the line at Union Station. Exit the train on the platform and follow the signs for the bus terminal (this will take you underground). At gate B6, catch the FF1-Downtown Boulder bus; your train ticket will act as your transfer. Exit the bus at the first Boulder stop, Table Mesa Station. From Table Mesa, you can take the 236-Boulder Junction bus; your fare will be covered by the transfer. Exit the bus at the 28th and Arapahoe Ave stop and walk to the hotel (about .1miles). Total travel time is about 1hr and 45min, depending on the time of day. From the Table Mesa station, you could also use a ride share service, the distance is about 2.5 miles.
