Beach School Lummi Island

The Lummi Island Theater Camp offers a creative and structured environment for K-12th graders, for on-Island and off-Island children.

Every summer is different  - you know this if you've ever participated in Lummi Island Summer Theater Camp.

For summer 2019 we are planning two age blended casts for Crazy for You.
For our younger campers, in addition to their participation in Crazy For You, they will start each morning with an additional Musical Theater opportunity.

(Don't forget, this is all subject to change based upon our group of 2019 campers!)

Our 7th Annual Summer Theater Camp will offer structured attention for every student.

Our campers will learn about acting, staging and voice and explore solo as well as ensemble singing and movement with professionals that have worked all over the country: Music Director Jason Parker, Choreographer Pam Kuntz,  accompanist Hadassah McGill and the esteemed Director Mark Kuntz.

Many volunteers will also be returning this summer, they include: Susan Dworski returns as Wardrobe Manager, Alyssa Daschbach as Dance Captain & Stage Manager and Erna Gregory as Managing Camp Director.

As always, our campers will receive lots of individual attention. We continue to work with faculty at Western Washington University Theater Department and hope that WWU students in the Directing program will join our staff in teaching musical theater skills, rehearsal techniques, memorization tools and the vocabulary of a stage actor.

Teamwork, being supportive of each other, and aspiring to do excellent work will be emphasized. The camp will pursue fun through excellence.

Theater Camp will be July 8 -21 with several culminating performances.

The camp will run five days a week, for five hours a day (half days for children K-3rd grade by request) 9:30 am – 3 pm.

Thank you for joining us for this wonderful experience.  Please note that all sales are final.

More about Choreographer Pam Kuntz

Pam Kuntz danced in NY, Boston, and Montana before moving to Bellingham, WA in 1999 to teach at WWU. Pam strives to guide her students to explore their own creative voice, discover habits and make choices. Pam’s teaching is most strongly informed by her training in the Alexander technique, in which she is currently pursuing her certification. Along with teaching at Western, Pam also teaches a class in the community for people living with Parkinson's disease and other neurological disorders. She is dedicated to arts education for children and worked closely with OSPI by helping the state create assessments for both children (CBPAs) and educators (WEST-E). Pam was a founding member of Bellingham Repertory Dance, a professional dance company in the community. She enjoys choreographing on WWU students in dance program concerts as well as in theatre department plays and musicals. She is the founder and Artistic Director of "Kuntz and Company" (kuntzandco.org) where she works with professional artists and community members to share the stories of our community through the arts. Pam has received funding from The National Endowment for the Arts, The Washington State Arts Commission, the City of Bellingham, and others. Pam is proud to be a 2015 Artist Trust Fellow, a 2012 Artist Trust GAP recipient, a 2012 Peace Builder recipient, a 2011 Ken Gass Community Building Award, and a 2007 Bellingham Mayor’s Arts Award recipient. Her choreography has been recognized by the American College Dance Festival and her dance for the camera “Parkinson’s Dreams about Me” won best experimental film at the Oregon Independent Film Festival 2012.
