7th Annual International Holocaust Remembrance Day
Sun, Jan 29, 2017, 11:30 AM – Mon, Jan 30, 2017, 1:00 PM EST
Voices of Hope requests your presence at the 7th Annual Greater Hartford International Holocaust Remembrance Day commemorating the January 1945 Liberation of Auschwitz.
The United Nations General Assembly designated January 27—the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau—as International Holocaust Remembrance Day. On this annual day of commemoration, the UN urges every member state to honor the victims of the Nazi era and to develop educational programs to help prevent future genocides.
Program includes a dairy brunch, presentation of the 2017 Chesed Award to Abby Weiner, presentation from Avinoam Patt, PhD, of the new University of Hartford Museum of Jewish Civilization and musical selections by Hazzan Sanford Cohn and granddaughter of survivor, Hannah Rose Berkowitz.
The 2017 Chesed Award recipient is Abby Weiner. The Award is bestowed on individuals who demonstrate exemplary "acts of loving kindness" that find expression in the mission of Voices of Hope.
The University of Hartford Museum of Jewish Civilization will be open to guests immediately following the event.
