About this event

Think you have the best chili around? Prove it! This is the 7th Annual Chili Cook-off presented by Huggy Bear BBQ. All proceeds benefit the Diabetes Youth Foundation of Indiana where we educate, encourage, and empower youth living with Type 1 diabetes.

Take on the reigning champ and prove that your recipe has what it takes to be the best!

1st place prize wins $100 cash

2nd place prize wins $50 cash

Most Unique chili wins $25 cash

Prizes will be decided by most votes. Every taste testing participant will get 3 votes and at the end, all of the votes will be added up to determine who truly has the best chili around!

With raffles, 50/50, and a free hot dog & potato bar (comes with each taste testing ticket), there is excitement for everyone! All participants must be 21 years or older.

FOR CHILI MASTERS:

Plan on arriving between 12:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to set up your chili. Your chili must come in a crock pot, and be at least 3 quarts worth. You or a representative must serve the chili during the event. Only one chili per entry name. Please warn taste testers of any peanut oil or peanut use as well as the degree of spicy-ness. If preparing the chili the night before, chili must be cooled to 41 degrees F or below and reheated to 165 degrees F. Come prepared with a list of ingredients on a note card (can have up to 2 secret ingredients.) Chilis will be judged by peers.

FOR TASTE TESTERS:

$10 will gain you access to taste all of the chilis. It will also give the power to be a judge! With three votes, you can help choose the winning chili, because as well all know, every vote counts! Additionally, you will have access to the Free Hot Dog & Potato Bar donated by the End Zone.

About the Diabetes Youth Foundation of Indiana

Since 1989, our non-profit organization has been educating, encouraging, and empowering children with Type 1 diabetes. The DYFI mission is to help children and teens prepare for life-long success in living with diabetes. We do this through affordable, safe, and developmental camping experiences. Our cornerstone program is a residential camp in Noblesville, IN. In order to give these children and families a place to call home, DYFI purchased our own camp in 2005, the only camp in Indiana specifically owned and operated for children and teens with Type 1 diabetes. With your support, our journey continues to help more families, children, and teens each year! DYFI Ambassadors, for teens 16-19 with T1D centered around five main goals: service within DYFI, community impact, diabetes advocacy, program input, and outreach. Unfortunately, Type 1 diabetes is becoming more and more prevalent among children. It is an autoimmune disease that wasn't caused by 'eating too much sugar' or by any fault of the children or parents. It just simply happened. It can be a difficult and confusing disease, especially upon diagnosis. The DYFI works to close the gap and educate kids, teens, and families so that nothing holds them back from living a healthy, vibrant life, not even diabetes! Camp Until A Cure

Every little bit helps! Your support will make a BIG impact. Every summer, over 200 children ages 5-15 throughout the Midwest come to our camp to swim, hike, explore creeks, and climb high ropes just like any other boy or girl attending a summer camp. However, unlike traditional camps, Camp Until A Cure educates these youth on how to live a healthy, successful life with Type 1 diabetes. For some children with diabetes, this is their first social experience where they don't feel different from other kids. With a fully staffed camp and medical team on site, one week of overnight camp costs approximately $1760; however, we only ask families to pay $500 per week per child, providing additional financial aid to campers who need it. Our commitment to the diabetes community, and where your support comes to bear, is that we will not turn a child away from any of our programs due to inability to pay. This is why your support is so crucial for so many!
