Event description

Description

Buddies, Books & Brunch: A Celebration of Black History, is a program created to ensure schools teach and celebrate notable African Americans and their contributions to the United States of America. We work hard to create campus wide activities for the entire month of February, including our signature program on Friday, February 22, 2019.

On this day, students from Treasure Forest Elementary will present their Black History Month program to their peers, parents, teachers, school leaders, and you- our community supporters.

To make this event a success, we need your help. Please register to volunteer as a classroom buddy. In this role you will:

  • Read a book written by a black author and complete a literacy project with kids.

  • Visit each classroom's Living Museum where students share their presentations about notable Black Americans.

  • Be a judge for our display case competition.

The event will conclude with a FAMILY AFFAIR style brunch and music!

Registration is FREE and lunch will be provided for this event.

You'll receive a confirmation email with a link for you to purchase your t-shirt that will be worn to the event. By doing this, you are supporting our t-shirt fundraiser that allows helps our programming efforts and ability to purchase books written by African American authors that we donate to Treasure Forest Elementary.
