Event description

Description

A bi-weekly practice community, centered around this ancient and classic teaching, originally taught by the great Indian sage (master), Atisha, in Tibet, and later by a great many accomplished Tibetan Masters who had written commentaries on this path. This teaching offers complete instruction on the Mahayana Buddhist tradition, applying the union of skillful methods and wisdom. The study of this ancient treasure will help one discover the art of establishing inner peace through integrating wisdom and compassion. Every session will be a combination of learning, reflecting and meditation. This timeless and profoundly altruistic great path helps in cultivating loving kindness to oneself and to others, thus enabling oneself to bring out the best from the basic fundamental goodness, or the Buddha nature, inherent in all of us.

About the Presenter:

Tsering Ngodup Lama Yodsampa was born in Tibet in 1954. During the Chinese occupation of Tibet in 1959, his family was exiled to Nepal; he was in the first generation of Tibetan children who grew up with responsibilities of preserving his ancient culture, language and Buddhist tradition. Since 1983, under the spiritual guidance of late HH Shamarpa, one of the highest lineage holder of 900 year old Tibetan Buddhist tradition, as well as the founder of Bodhi Path Buddhist Centers worldwide, Tsering has interpreted, translated and taught buddhist philosophy and meditation across 5 continents. He has received teachings and transmissions in both sutra and tantra (Vajrayana) from great many accomplished masters and scholars of all Tibetan Buddhist schools. Through this experience, he has acquired knowledge and insight which HH Shamarpa has recognized and asked him to share through teaching. Tsering lives in Lexington MA with his family, and is a staff interfaith chaplain at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center since last 6 years and also recently joined Bedford VA Medical Center. He provides spiritual support and meditation instructions to both patients and staff. Additionally, Tsering teaches buddhist philosophy and meditation practices in Boston area. He is also the founder and spiritual teacher of the Bodhi Tree Institute for study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism.
