Event Details

Summary:

A weekend of riding, camping, hiking, and camaraderie.

Moab is famous for mountain biking, but the road biking is equally impressive. The desert scenery contrasted with snow capped mountain peaks is spectacular.  There are many options for outdoor activities in Moab.  If you have never visited Moab, you are in for a real treat!

In the past, we had over 100 cyclists sign up for this event.

This year, we have reserved the entire river bank, three group camp sites, at Gold Bar campground.

Goldbar Campground:

The Gold Bar Recreation Site is located on a sweeping curve in the Colorado River, just 14 miles from the town of Moab. The campground offers stunning views both up and down the river corridor. Sunset is particularly striking at Gold Bar, as the Navajo Sandstone cliffs surrounding the campground change color as darkness falls. Campers can hike to Corona Arch (see above photo) right from the campground. This 90 x 140 foot arch rivals any in Arches National Park.

Directions:

From Moab, travel 5 miles north on U.S. Highway 191. Turn left (west) on Utah Highway 279 and drive 10 miles. Turn left into the Gold Bar Recreation Site. The group sites are located adjacent to the Colorado River. (If you are traveling south on U.S. Highway 191, turn right onto Utah Highway 279 just past the entrance to Arches National Park.)

Campsite Regulations:

Campground regulations apply to the group site as well. Please make sure that every member of your group is familiar with the camping regulations.

  • No amplified music is allowed in the campground at any time.
  • Quiet hours are 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Generator hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. only
  • Wood collecting or cutting is prohibited
  • Campfires are only permitted in the provided grills or fire pits.
  • Dogs must be leashed at all times.
  • Check out time is Noon

What is the refund policy?

There are NO refunds.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes, but dogs must be leashed at all times and it can be very hot during the day time.  Could be a pretty hot spot for Fido to hang out while you are out and about.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

Carpooling is encouraged.  Please use the Carpool Connection (See Meetup).

There are large parking lots adjacent to the campsites

May I sleep in my vehicle in the parking lot?

Yes, but you will still need to pay for camping

If I share a tent with someone, do I still pay a camping fee?

Yes. Per BLM policy, anyone sleeping in the campground or the parking lot, pays a camping fee and counts toward the maximum number of campers. It does not matter if you are sharing a tent.   Campsites and parking spots are reserved per person not per tent

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

Yes

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Please contact patchandjules@gmail.com for any questions

Jules and Patch Special Events

We organize events throughout Colorado and Utah:

Most of our events are bicycle based. We have organized rides from beginner to expert! Road and Dirt.

We seek out roads less traveled, aiming to be quite remote at times. These roads will take you close to nature, back to a simpler time, away from noise and congestion. You can take your time and enjoy the scenery you are literally a part of.
