Event Details

Please join the PEAL Center in celebrating our Champions of Inclusive Communities at our 6th Annual Inclusion Awards Dinner at Le Mont in Pittsburgh, PA.

This event is an opportunity to recognize the work of deserving honorees who have contributed to building inclusive schools and communities where all children, youth and adults lead rich, active, person-centered lives.

The Inclusion Awards Dinner will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at Le Mont in Pittsburgh. We anticipate more than 150 guests joining us for a cocktail reception, silent auction, and formal dinner with a presentation.

This year our event co-chairs are Ola Jackson, Debbie & Rick Efkeman, and Kate Efkeman.

We are pleased to announce that this year we are honoring six individuals and organizations:

Dr. Graciela Sleseransky-Poe -- Champion of Social Justice -- for her work in creating welcoming, inclusive, and safe schools and organizations, for gender non-binary and transgender children, youth, and adults

Include Me Initiative, Arc of PA-- Champion of Inclusive Education Advocacy -- for striving to include students with special needs in all aspects of life and the community and advocating for rights to equal education and competitive employment

Todd McMillen, Coordinator of Student Services, Greensburg Salem School District -- Champion of Inclusive Education -- for building high quality special education supports and services in order to “bring back” students from outside placements and presuming competence

John and Juanita Seely, Empowering Lives Foundation -- Champions of Employment -- for co-founding a non-profit foundation to fill a need for connecting people through social experiences and customized meaningful employment

Julius Boatwright -- Emerging Grassroots Leader – for founding the Steel Smiling non-profit using an innovative approach to provide mental health support for African American adults and youth in Pittsburgh communities.

We look forward to celebrating with you on Friday, October 13, 2017!
