Day 1 (Feb 27th)

12:00- Registration Opens (lunch is on your own)

12:30pm- Getting and Staying Organic Certified

  • How to get and stay certified. Nate Powell-Palm, Montana farmer/certifier

  • Resources for organic farmers. Michael Stein, Organic Farming Research Foundation

2:30pm- Marketing Workshop and Panel Discussion

  • Entrepreneurial Farming and the basics of branding and marketing. Minden Fox, Marketing & Entrepreneurship Instructor, LCCC

  • Basic agricultural economics and building resilience in a farm business. Brent Young, Agricultural Business Management Economist, Colorado State University Extension

  • Panel discussion

8:30am- Nate Powell-Palm, Bozeman, MT. Organic grassfed beef, grains, and pulses.

9:00am- Lightning Talks:

  • One-minute sponsor Intros and poster/topical session summaries

9:30am- Break 30 minutes

10:00-12:00 and 1:30-3:30 Concurrent Sessions: 45 min talks and 15 min discussion for each speaker

3:30pm- Break 30 minutes

4:00pm- Plenary Session: Update on the Farm Bill and discussion of regional research needs, Michael Stein, OFRF; Jay Norton, University of Wyoming; Mark Uchanski, Colorado State University

4:45pm- Closing Remarks/Evaluations/Poster Winners

4:30pm- Adjourn followed by planning/feedback session for 2020 HPOC
