TICKET SALES HAVE ENDED EARLY DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE EVENT IS ALMOST SOLD OUT.
Although Messiah ticket presales have ended, a limited number of walk-up tickets will be available - first come first served. Please arrive early to purchase walk-up tickets as we are expecting a sell-out. Doors open at 3:15pm. The concert begins at 4:00pm.
Next year, we are planning on having 2 concerts to accommodate the growing audience. The number of attendees was unexpected, and we appreciate you allowing us to expand this program in the future.
Thank you so much for supporting Calvary United Methodist Church and our growing music ministry!
Bask in Handel's inspiring Messiah while surrounded by candlelight and Calvary's magnificent Tiffany stained-glass masterpieces.
All are invited to raise their voices together in a classic holiday choral work during the 6th Annual Handel's Messiah Sing-Along at Calvary United Methodist Church on Saturday, December 3rd at 4:00pm. Doors open at 3:15pm when volunteers welcome audience members to view the Tiffany windows and select their seats for the one hour and 15 minute concert. A cookie reception with the artists follows in the Victorian Chapel.
Calvary's Music Director Brian Burns conducts the event which includes four popular regional soloists, a chamber orchestra comprised of some of the area's most accomplished instrumentalists, and the Festival Choir. David Bridge, a past conductor and organist, is at the parlor organ and Calvary's restored Farrand & Votey organ.
We will be performing the “Christmas” portion of Messiah. This is a sing-along concert, so the audience will be invited to sing-along on all choruses with the Festival Choir. Also, the concert is a “family-friendly concert”. Each child 12 and under receives a kid’s activity pack. We offer this concert simply in support of outreach ministries on Pittsburgh's Northside. This year as in years past, we ask audience members to bring non-perishable food items and extra shopping tote bags for Northside Common Ministries Food Pantry. Also, tickets are given to neighborhood schools, smaller churches, and groups such as Tickets for Kids.
It's a fantastic way to kick off the holiday season, and we invite everyone to join in and sing for the joy of it!
