INTENDED AUDIENCE
This course is intended for otolaryngologists and residents in training with an eclectic experience in temporal bone anatomy, middle ear anatomy, chronic ear disease and management of the middle ear and applied surgical techniques.

COURSE OVERVIEW
This course provides hands-on experience of endoscopic techniques to the middle ear, as well as state of the art endoscopic otologic evaluation, diagnosis and surgical management of middle ear pathology. Comprised of lecture and hands-on laboratory dissections of the temporal bone.

After participating in this CME activity, participants should be able to:
1. Describe and discuss
• basic and applied anatomy of the middle ear
• appropriate otologic evaluation and diagnosis using the endoscope
• appropriate surgical management of chronic ear disease and ventilation pathways
2. Practice new evidence-based surgical techniques in the dissection laboratory

Topics to be presented
• Principles of endoscopic ear surgery
• History of endoscopic ear surgery
• Endoscopic anatomy of the middle ear
• Endoscopic anatomy for practical temporal bone dissection
• Conventional approaches to chronic ear disease
• Endoscopic chronic ear disease management: tympanoplasty, ossicular reconstruction and management of cholesteatoma
• Endoscopic use for intraoperative surveillance of recurrence
• Robotic and endoscopic technology in cochlear implantation
• Stapes surgery and endoscopic ear surgery
• Endoscopic ear surgery in superior canal dehiscence surgery
• Future technology on endoscopic ear surgery
• Ventilation pathways of the middle ear: functional implications

The course registration fees are as follows:
M.D.s: $1250
Residents and Fellows: $1050
Other health care professionals: $1250

The course fee includes all sessions, cadaveric material, CME credit, materials and all food functions.

A block of rooms has been reserved for April 4-April 5, 2019 at the Courtyard Marriott-Vanderbilt West End for $239 a night. This special room rate will be available until March 4, 2019 or until the group block is sold-out, whichever comes first.

COURSE LOCATION
The course will be held at the Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Center on the Vanderbilt University Medical Center campus in Nashville Tennessee.

Dissection labs will take place in the Anspach-Zeiss Temporal Bone Laboratory on the tenth floor of the Center.


ATTIRE
Our course is casual! Please feel free to dress in jeans or casual clothes. We will host one evening social event on Friday, April 5, if you prefer to bring a change of clothes for the outing. It is casual as well.

*Gowns will be given to participants during dissection lab times.
You are more than welcome to bring your own scrubs, but it is not necessary.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Our dissection lab only holds 13 stations. You will be split into groups which rotate between lectures and dissection to accommodate the number of participants we have registered.
