New Induction Class to Be Honored
The Chicago Literary Hall of Fame will induct its sixth class of writers at itsannual ceremony on Dec. 5, from 7-9 p.m., at Roosevelt University's Ganz Hall.
Rane Arroyo, Margaret T. Burroughs, Floyd Dell, Alice Judson Ryerson Hayes, Upton Sinclair and Theodore Ward make up the new class, which will bring the total number of inductees to 36.
Juana Goergen, Perri L. Irmer, Walker Johnson, Adam Mack, Chuck Smith, and Clayton Douglas will present a class representing more than a hundred years of important literary and social contributions. The 2015 CLHOF class includes the builders of the iconic cultural institutions, arbiters of social justice, playwrights, poets and bestsellers.
As is our tradition at the annual ceremony, family members and close relations will be on hand to accept on behalf of their loved ones. This group of extraordinary people includes Teneice Durrant (close friend of Rane Arroyo), Eric Toller (grandson of Margaret T. Burroughs), Jerri Dell (granddaughter of Floyd Dell), Elise Ward (daughter of Theodore Ward) and Francie Shaw (daughter of Alice Judson Ryerson Hayes).
The event is free and open to the public, but you're encouraged to register; last year, the auditorium was filled to capacity. Ganz Hall is located at 430 S. Michigan Ave., on the seventh floor.
