Event description

Description

Check-in 8:00 a.m., program begins 8:30 a.m. Light refreshments will be served.

This session will focus on services available to refugees and immigrants in our community. Participants will leave with a basic understanding of the scope of services available, an understanding of eligibility for programs from several area agencies, how referrals are made, and how participants can access services.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Amy Heilman, Refugee Grants Program, Rock Valley College. Panelists will include representatives from the ESL and Citizenship Programs at Rock Valley College, Refugee Arrivals and USCIS paperwork programs from Catholic Charities, ESL and education programs from The Literacy Council, Refugee Programs from the Rockford Public Schools Bilingual Services, and Refugee Programs from the Winnebago County Health Department.

Community of Practice sessions provide useful and relevant information for all case managers and human services professionals, regardless of your area of service.

These quarterly events are held to strengthen skills and increase knowledge on specialized topics, share information and best practices for the field of case management in general, and provide an opportunity for networking among local case managers to help you successfully implement the foundation skills of the community wide approach to Case Management. An information table will be available if you would like to bring flyers about your organization's upcoming programs and events.

The Rockford Area Case Management Initiative is a community-wide approach to deliver individualized strength-based and person-centered support services that help participants achieve specific, self-defined outcomes leading to a healthy self-reliance and interdependence within their community.
