Practical Info

Getting to Malmö

  1. The best way to travel to Malmö for most participants will be by plane to Copenhagen Aiport, the biggest airport in the Nordics. From there you take public trains over the bridge to Malmö central station which takes 25 min and costs 10 euro each way.

  2. Malmö does have an airport as well. For some destinations this could be good option for some (e.g. Romania. But not for most (e.g. Brussels).

  3. It is possible to go by train the whole way to Malmö through Copenhagen, but it takes a while and requires multiple transfers from most European cities.

  4. Address of the venue: Region Skåne, Dockplatsen 26, 211 19 Malmö. A 12 min walk from the central station.

  5. At the airport baggage carousels, or just before taking the escalator down to the train on the airport, buy your tickets in a Skånetrafiken machine. Do not buy tickets in a SJ machine since it is harder, more expensive and still the same trains. See picture below.

Getting around in Malmö

  1. Malmö is a small town with a big town vibe. The good thing about this is that there really are not any distances. Most places are walkable.

  2. Public transport is provided by Skånetrafiken. Follow the link for searching time tables etc. However, if you stay around the central parts of Malmö, where most hotels are, most of you will not need public transport.

  3. An option for those of you who feel like walking 10-20 min is a waste of time there is a public bike system https://www.malmobybike.se/ . And there is a station outside of the venue.

  4. In case of emergency there are taxis like Taxi Skåne, phone: +4640-330 330.

Staying in Malmö

As mentioned above, there really are not any distances in Malmö. Most hotels are located within the old moat in the older parts of Malmö just next to the central station. This area is marked with a purple line on the map below). If you just google “hotels in Malmö” there will be plenty of alternatives within this area.

There are a few exceptions, hotels outside of the purple perimeter, which would also be great options geographically. They are marked as colored dots on the map. They are all located in the newer parts of Malmö.

  • The newest and closest hotel to the venue is bicycle friendly Hotel Oboy which is both hotel and residential building just next to Sweden’s biggest outdoor skateboard park. (Purple dot)

  • Just as new is Story Hotel Studio Malmö, located just between the venue and the central station. It consists of restaurants, office spaces, meeting places, conference spaces and the hotel rooms look awesome. (Pink dot)

  • Clarion Hotel & Congress Malmö Live is among other things the biggest hotel in Malmö. It is where the new concert hall is and where most big international conferences are held. The complex is also very new and most visitors I’ve talked to are amazed over the place during big happenings. Extremely close to the central station. (Orange dot)

If some of you wish to stay in Malmö over the weekend, please contact Wilhelm, Kajsa or Maria for more sight-seeing tips.
