5th Border Substance Abuse Virtual Summit Drug Trends Across the Region

The Border Substance Abuse Council (BSAC) in collaboration with the Paso Del Norte Bi-national Health Council and the West Texas High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) cordially extends you an invitation to attend the 5th BORDER SUBSTANCE ABUSE VIRTUAL SUMMIT.The Summit will be bringing together substance abuse prevention, intervention, treatment, recovery, and mental health providers from the three sister communities of El Paso (Texas), Southern Dona Ana County (New Mexico), and Juarez (Mexico).This year’s Summit will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, from 8:00am to 4:30pm.The objective of the Summit is to convene local partners on both sides of the border, the United States and Mexico, to present on the current challenges in terms of substance use, abuse, and misuse.This year the speakers will provide information on drug trends, drugs of choice and/or best practices conducted in their region.Providing this information will assist in the development of strategies designed to enhance protective factors and reduce risk factors with substance abuse issues in the United States-Mexico border region.The Paso Del Norte Bi-national Health Council (BHC) and the New Mexico Office of Border Health (OBH) are the sponsoring organizations for the BSAC. The BHC is the umbrella organization for seven committees focused on specific health issues in the border region. One of the committees is the Border Substance Abuse Council (BSAC), which has been in existence for over 17 years. This Council has over 250 representatives in the region that share information regarding drug trends, prevention, intervention, treatment/recovery services and mental health. Law enforcement and military sectors are represented in all community efforts/initiatives.
