The Power of 5 Initiative

Take a look at women entrepreneurs

from the 4th. Annual W.O.M.E.N. Conference.

The Power of 5 Initiative follows 5 women who participate in the 5th. Annual W.O.M.E.N. Conference. Each quarter, the women will provide an update on their goals (form the conference) while offering tips & strategies on balancing life and business.

The Conference

What is W.O.M.E.N.?

The Entrepreneurial Development & Assistance Center (EDAC) created W.O.M.E.N. out of the need to further promote the efforts of women that received services from EDAC. The mission of W.O.M.E.N. (Women Owned & Managed Enterprise Network) is to create a network of resources that support women in developing and retaining competitive enterprises.

What will happen DURING the conference?

Participants receive tools to help them create an Annual Action Plan based on three areas—leadership, entrepreneurship, and self improvement. Additionally, women who are interested in starting a business and existing women entrepreneurs receive resources to help managed their operation. Other resources include networking, matchmaking, mentoring, awards and scholarships (academic scholarships for women interested in business).

Why do women ATTEND this annual event?

I attended last year's W.O.M.E.N conference because of my genuine desire to get my business off the ground and liked the idea of a forum just for women.

My purpose for attending the 2010 W.O.M.E.N.Conference was to gain valuable knowledge and information to grow and maintain my business, to network with and encourage other women business owners.

To be empowered with information shared by other women who have been where I am going; in turn I will empower other women to come where I am.
