Event description

Description

Have you ever wondered…

  • what makes you who you are?

  • why there is a blind spot in your vision?

  • how addiction changes the brain?

  • how you can improve your memory?

  • why we need sleep?

  • how your brain creates dreams?

  • why pain exists?

  • how your brain is different from a computer?

  • how male and female brains differ?

If so, you may have a growing interest in the field of neuroscience! Consider competing in the Annual Saskatchewan Brain Bee!

The Saskatchewan Brain Bee enables students to learn about the brain and careers in neuroscience. The winner of the Saskatchewan Brain Bee and each Local Bee is invited to attend the National Brain Bee competition in his or her own country, and the winner of each National Bee is invited to compete in the International Brain Bee Championship.

Brain Bees test one's knowledge of the human brain including such topics as intelligence, emotions, memory, sleep, vision, hearing, sensations, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, schizophrenia, epilepsy, depression, addictions and brain research. The local competitions are in the Q&A format based on material from a book (Neuroscience Science of the Brain) that is freely downloadable from the internet.

BRAIN BEE PRIZES:

1st place - $500 + Free trip to the National Brain Bee + Brain Bee trophy with your name to display at your school.
2nd and 3rd places - Cash prizes.
And door prizes for all participants.
