Event description
Annual meeting of San Diego area palliative care professionals to build networks, share best practices, and promote community resources.

About this event

Held each year on the CSU San Marcos campus in North San Diego County, this conference enables San Diego area palliative care professionals to meet, expand their networks, share best practices, and learn from one another. Our conference is presented by the San Diego Coalition for Compassionate Care and hosted by the Shiley Haynes Institute for Palliative Care at CSUSM. This year's conference theme is “Building Bridges: Connecting our Communities to Palliative Care.” Our program centers on serving the needs of diverse communities, specific patient populations, and traditionally underserved populations, particularly in the context of the ongoing pandemic. Our goal is to promote advance healthcare planning and access to palliative care within these groups and communities. Panels, workshops, and presentations will provide useful resources for palliative care professionals working in different care settings, serving diverse patients, across the disciplines. Please join us for a stimulating and instructive day.

Our keynote speaker will be Sunita Puri MD. Dr. Puri is author of That Good Night: Life and Medicine in the Eleventh Hour, and serves as Medical Director of the Palliative Medicine and Supportive Care Service at Keck Hospital and Norris Cancer Center of the University of Southern California. She is also Chair of the Ethics Committee at USC. The first 100 ticket sales will include a complimentary copy of her book.

All conference attendees and personnel will be required to submit proof of vaccination and boosters in order to attend, or else present a negative COVID-19 test taken within 48 hours of the event. Registered attendees will receive instructions via email for online submission of proof of vaccination, prior to the event. Proof of negative tests will be confirmed at the door; please bring test results with you to the conference. Please bring vaccination records to the conference, if you are unable to submit them in advance. At this point, masks will be required in conference meeting spaces, apart from mealtimes.
