FAQs

Who does the Casino night benefit?

The Casino Night is for the benefit of the Delaware Law Related Education Center (DELREC), a private nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that is a statewide nonprofit consortium of educators, attorneys, judges, law enforcement officers and other community leaders with a mission to enhance the presence of law-related education initiatives in Delaware. Proceeds from 4th Annual DELREC Casino Night Fundraiser will help support the vital work of the Delaware Law Related Education Center, which helps organize valuable programs such as the statewide mock-trial competition among Delaware's high schools, Law Day, Project Citizen, and the "We the People" program. Our goal this year is to raise $20,000 for DELREC after expenses.

How does the Casino Night work?

For our Casino Night event, you donate money (to benefit DELREC) and receive chips to play. Games will include blackjack, craps, and roulette. At the end of the evening, you redeem your chips for raffle tickets. There will be many different types of raffle baskets and you place your raffle tickets in your favorite selections. Raffles will be drawn at the end of the evening.

What if I am not the gambling type?

This is an event with something for everyone. There will be great food, open bar and great company. In addition to gaming, there will be a fabulous silent auction with many items from which to choose and bid on. Raffle tickets for the exclusive raffle baskets can be purchased the night of the event. If you do not know how to play any of the games, our dealers will be more than happy to help explain the rules. Everyone will have a lot of fun, that is guaranteed.

What ticket level should I buy? Can I buy more chips the night of the event?

There are various ticket levels and sponsorships (which include tickets) available for this event. Each ticket gets you access to the casino night, silent auction, and networking reception areas, which will have hors d'oeuvres, desserts, and soft drinks plus $100 in chips to get the evening started. The "Premium" ticket is $75 per person and includes access to the open bar. The "Designated Driver" ticket is $60 and does not include access to the open bar. There is also a "High Roller" ticket for $125 per person, which includes access to the open bar and an additional $500 in chips ($600 total), a great level for those who want to be in the game. High Rollers will all have access to special bonuses throughout the evening. We hope to see everyone in the legal and DELREC communities (such as parents, teachers, mock trial coaches) come out to be a part of this special evening. You can purchase more chips the night of the event.

What is the schedule of events for that evening?

Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. After check-in, you will be able to go to the casino night floor, check out the silent auction items, mingle with the other guests, and grab some food or drinks at the bar. The casino night and silent auction officially begin at 6:00 p.m. The silent auction will end at approximately 8:30 p.m., and the casino night will end at 9:00 p.m. The raffle winners will be chosen shortly after the close of the casino night.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

Participants must be 21 or older to attend.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

There will be street parking and also a nearby open parking lot for pre-registered attendees.

What can/can't I bring to the event?

You should plan to bring extra cash in case you want additional casino chips to play with or are planning to bid on the silent auction. We will also be able to process credit card transactions for the silent auction items and on site registration.

What is the dress/attire for the evening?

You cannot go wrong with business casual. If you dress as if you are going to go to a real casino, you will neither be overdressed or underdressed. Most people are coming from work, and many will be wearing business attire or business casual.

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Contact Sam Closic or Pat Quann at (casinonightdelrec@gmail.com).

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, all registrants will be on a list at the registration table when you check-in that night.

What is the refund policy?

There are no refunds for this event. However, in the event that you purchase a ticket and cannot attend, the entire ticket price should be tax deductible. Your tax professional will be able to provide you specific advice with regard to your situation.
