Sunday

10:00-11:45am - Blossom and Grow – Motifs and Movement Families in ATS® with Lisa Branner

The foundational steps of the American Tribal Style® lexicon serve as seeds that can blossom and grow into more complex moves. Working with the concept of movement families, we’ll learn a few basic ATS® movements, and then manipulate those motifs to create dynamic and exciting variations. Finally, we’ll craft these steps into combinations and experiment with improvisational partner work. No prior ATS® experience necessary. All moves learned in this class can be dropped into your current cued improv vocabulary or adapted for choreography. Bring finger cymbals if you play them! Note that the zills are optional for the workshop.

Lisa's Bio: Lisa Branner’s love of dance began at an early age with childhood ballet, tap, and jazz classes. She has been studying American Tribal Style® and Tribal Fusion Belly Dance since 2007 and is a founding member and current director of Caldera Tribal. Lisa completed General Skills Certification in ATS® in 2012, Teacher Training in 2014, and is now a FatChanceBellyDance® Sister Studio who re-certifies annually. Lisa also passed Rachel Brice's 8 Elements Phase One: Initiation in 2013 and Phase Two: Cultivation in 2014. As a perpetual student, she is continually building her skills and knowledge by attending classes and workshops across the country. Lisa teaches weekly ATS® classes in Silverton, CO, offers regional workshops, and produces belly dance events in the Four Corners area. Her annual Tribal Summit event brings world class instructors to Silverton each fall for an immersive weekend of dance and sisterhood.
