In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Muslim Student Association at UC Davis humbly presents the 2nd Annual 5k for Charity -
5k for Water: Building Wells, Building Lives.
Working hand-in-hand with Penny Appeal USA, proceeds from this Run/Walk will go towards building wells in 11 underdeveloped countries abroad, not only to deliver clean water to those in need, but to also foster sustainability and economic growth in the region.
(India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Kashmir, Afghanistan, Somalia, Gambia, Niger, Ethiopia, and Sudan.)
In addition to this, the net proceeds of the 5k will also be impacting a community much closer to home; Flint. This year, we have also partnered up with Convoy of Hope, an organization dedicated to providing clean drinking water to the communities of Flint, Michigan in helping them overcome the disastrous water crisis they are currently facing.
Through planning and executing this large-scale event, we hope to build wells abroad, build lives globally, and build coalitions locally with other communities, providing an opportunity for interfaith collaboration and defeating notions of Islamophobia, Xenophobia, and racism.
Join us on January 21st, 2017 to run for clean water and to run for humanity as we reach our goal of $30,000 to make an impact all across the globe.
