Abstract:

This talk brings together ideas from various fields such as cooperative communication, information theory, robust control and machine learning to address the system design problem of designing wireless communication frameworks for interactive, highly-dynamic applications that require fast and reliable communication. In doing so, the speaker will also take a brief look at the dynamics of wireless channels in the context of URLLC and revisit some of the modeling assumptions made for cellular communications with a URLLC lens.

Speaker's Biography:

Vasuki Narasimha Swamy received the B.Tech. degree from IIT Madras, Chennai, India, in 2012, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California at Berkeley, Berkeley, CA, USA, in 2015 and 2018, respectively. In her Ph.D. thesis, she addressed designing wireless communication frameworks for highly interactive and immersive applications. She focused on designing frameworks that make wireless communication highly reliable while also maintaining the low latency requirements of the systems being targeted. She is broadly interested in the system design of fundamental technologies to ultimately transform them into enabling technologies. She is currently a Research Scientist with the Intel Labs, Santa Clara, CA, USA. She is the recipient of the Marconi Society 2019 Paul Baron Young Scholar Award.
