Event description

Description

This event is raising funds for one of our own military members whose family has been directly affected by stage-four cancer.

This weekend, we will be providing core-aeration for lawns in the Falls II subdivision. Labor will be performed by squadron members of 552 OSS and 965 AACS. The price for this service is super CHEAP at $35. This is mostly a base price, and we are counting on any kind of donations above that to make this succesful. Additional donations through this website or in cash are appreciated. If you do not wish to have your lawn aerated, you can still make a donation through this website. Thank you to everyone for their support.

What is Aeration?

Aeration involves perforating the soil with small holes to allow air, water and nutrients to penetrate the grass roots. This helps the roots grow deeply and produce a stronger, more vigorous lawn.

The main reason for aerating is to alleviate soil compaction. Compacted soils have too many solid particles in a certain volume or space, which prevents proper circulation of air, water and nutrients within the soil. Excess lawn thatch or heavy organic debris buried under the grass surface can also starve the roots from these essential elements. For warm-season grasses (bermuda), the time generally recommended for core aeration is mid-spring to early summer.

THIS IS A PRIVATE ORGANIZATION. IT IS NOT A PART OF THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE OR ANY OF ITS COMPONENTS AND IT HAS NO GOVERNMENTAL STATUS.
