Presented by the Department of Family Medicine at The University of Michigan Medical School, the 54th Annual Northern Michigan Update is a five-day, clinically-oriented course designed to explore the most recent topics in the diagnosis and treatment of common medical conditions in primary care. You may attend the full course or any combination of days.

Registration Instructions: Please read before proceeding.

  1. Click on "Tickets" in the green box to select the appropriate registration category, based on your professional status, the number of days you wish to attend, and whether you will attend the conference in person or via the webinar. Prices differ based on these parameters. Note: The "Retired/Health Professional" fee category includes retired physicians, as well as current and retired PAs, NPs, nurses and all other allied health professionals.
  2. Please review the agenda (NorthernMichiganUpdateAgenda) to ensure that you select the Ticket with the correct number of day(s) you plan to attend.
  3. If you are employed by Michigan Medicine, MidMichigan Medicine, or Metro Health or are an alumnus of the Michigan Medicine Family Medicine Residency Program, please click on the Promotional Code link in the top right-hand corner of the Tickets page to enter your code. You must add the code PRIOR to finalizing the remainder of your registration. If you need the Promotional Code, please e-mail FamilyMedCME@umich.edu.
  4. If you are not attending the full conference, you will need to indicate which days after you select your registration category.
  5. You must pay by credit card in order to complete your online registration. Payment cannot be deferred to a later date. Short code payments are not available.

Lodging: Conference guest room rates at Shanty Creek/Summit Village for the nights of June 17 through June 21 are $165 (single or double occupancy). The rate for a one-bedroom condo is $210 and for a two-bedroom, $310. All rooms are subject to a 9% resort fee, 5% CVB assessment and applicable sales taxes. The official room block is now closed, but these rates will be honored as long as rooms are available.

Course Objectives:

  1. Update primary care providers on a variety of current issues in the diagnosis and treatment of clinical problems commonly encountered in the daily practice of adult and pediatric medicine.
  2. Identify patient-centered outcomes research as it relates to addressing personal and primary healthcare needs.
  3. Identify evidence-based healthcare practices in adult and pediatric physical health, including but not limited to, cardiology, gastroenterology, neurology, oncology, orthopedics, psychology, depression and stress.
  4. Determine strategies to implement best practices in family medicine within various healthcare settings, including primary and specialty care.
  5. Identify current trends in hospital medicine and medical systems management.

Agenda: Note that each day of the conference will take place in a general session from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Breakfast will be available at 7:30 a.m. each day. Lunch and dinner are on your own. Please review the agenda before beginning your registration to ensure that you select the correct number of days. You may register for the full five-day conference, or any combination of days.

Who should attend? This course is designed for health care professionals with diversified primary care practices, including but not limited to: family physicians, internists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and nurses.

CME Credits: The University of Michigan Medical School is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The University of Michigan Medical School designates this live activity for a maximum of 21.25 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
