Module 1: December 7th to 9th
Applied 5 Elements Qigong & Myofascia (25 hrs)

In this integrative training, guided by Beta Lisboa and Sai Calder, you will learn to effectively incorporate the practices of 5 Element Qigong and Myofascial Release with Yin Fascial Yoga.

Syllabus Coverage

  • Bringing together Myofascial Release, Yin Yoga, 5 Elements Qigong for a complete system of Yin Fascial Yoga.
  • Learning and practicing how to structure sequences for an effective and personalised Yin Fascial Yoga class.
  • Healing the fascial tissues from traumatic events.
  • Using Mindfulness to support the openness in the practice.
  • Myofascial Release adjustments into the postures.
  • The art of teaching (methodology) Yin Fascial Yoga.
  • How to apply myofascial balls to massage and release tensions in the soft tissue.
  • Five Elements Qigong in relation to the organs and connective tissue in application with Yin Fascial Yoga.
  • Myofascial cupping technique.

This unique program of Yin Fascial Yoga integrative training combines the studies and practice of the physical body in the postures.

A fascinating blend of Myofascia release therapy, 5 Elements Qigong and Mindfulness into the Yin Fascial Yoga perspective. It aims a release of the held trauma on the fascia and a regulation of our sympathetic and parasympathetic nerve systems.

This is an investigation into the physical body incorporating the Trauma release as a framework for our research into Yin Fascial Yoga, taking us deep into releasing our psycho somatic imprints caused by traumatic events throughout our lifetime.

This dedicated training teaches students how to effectively release restrictions that are present at the body’s physical level, reprogram the body’s holding patterns increasing health on a cellular level in the Yoga classes. The understanding and practice to keep the Vagus nervous heath able to play its role in favor of the relaxation pattern.

Module 2: December 14th to 16th
Energetics (25 hrs)

This weekend training is an in-depth ENERGETICS study of the fascia movement fundamentals combined with Yin Fascial Yoga for a more balanced practice and teachings. Studying and experiencing the Chakra and Meridian system.

We will explore the energetic quality of the Chakra system throughout it’s emotional, physical & Psychological development.

Through the energetic release of any Tensions & Traumas stored in the fascial system, we can bring the body to its full potential.

Syllabus Coverage

  • Learn how to uncover, reveal and release the blockages that are inhibiting the freedom of movement and expression in the physical body caused by energetic stagnation.
  • Using Mindfulness to support the openness and presence in the practice.
  • Explore the energetic quality of the Chakra system through its Emotional, Physical & Psychological development.
  • Lectures on Trauma
  • Understanding of the Subtle body anatomy (Chakras & meridians)

We will be focusing on the energetic side of the 5 element system, looking into the meridian system and how it flows through the body and times of day that it fills each organ and meridian.

Delving deeper into the 5 element system to understand how each organ effects another organ, and how we can use the 5 elements system to balance our lives.

We will examine our energetic body to understand how Yin Yoga effects the energetic system and why it is an essential part of our practice. Looking at the relationships of Wei Qi, Ying Qi and Yuan Qi, you will learn about specific sets of points that directly open up into organs as doorways into to release constricted physical and energetic patterns in the 5 element system.

In this module, we will take all the knowledge from the first part to incorporate a practice that involves yin postures, fascia release, circulating of energy through the meridians, and using acupoints to release and tonify the organs. Focusing more on the energetic flow than the physical body, we can establish a more profound connection and understanding of mindfulness in our practice.

The full programme includes 2 modules of 25 hours training each, with Continuing Education Units (CEU) applicable for existing yoga teachers. This training is open to anyone with an interest in yin, qigong and the myofascial system. Non-teachers are also welcome to join, but some prior experience or background in yin/yoga practice is highly recommended!

Please bring your own yoga mat and 2 tennis balls. Yoga mats are also rentable at a flat $5 each for the entire training.

About Beta Lisboa

Beta Lisboa

Born in Brazil, Beta Lisboa is a very experienced yoga teacher, reiki master and myofascial therapist offering workshops worldwide.

Beta felt drawn by spirituality from a very young age and yearned to learn more. Inspired by her surroundings in Brazil including African Brazilian rituals, she was fascinated by their form of worship and the importance placed on nature. She also connected with Allan Kardec’s spiritism and Osho’s meditations and therapies. Yoga and meditation soon became very significant in her spiritual evolution.

As an avid athlete and capoeira practitioner, Beta began her journey investigating the body by studying Sports, Leisure and Physical Education at University in Brazil. It was here that she first took up the study of Ashtanga yoga and sports massage.

Beta later moved to Boston where her love for Ashtanga and Power yoga was cultivated through frequenting Baron Baptiste’s classes. She then got certified in an Ashtanga-based Power yoga at the Soft and Hard Institute with Beryl Bender Birch and in Myofascial Release Therapy at the Palmers Institute of Bodywork. She was also initiated into the healing practices of Reiki – becoming a Reiki Master after completing a one year intensive course in Barbara Brennan’s chakra healing. Beta also became a certified YogaKids® teacher by Masha Wening, before starting to teach at private and public schools. She continued practicing with big names in Asana yoga practice – such as Manju Jois, Baron Baptist, Dharma Mittra and Anne Forrest – before opening a yoga studio on the coast in Brazil.

Returning to Brazil after her time studying in the US, she developed the YogaSwahaKids Program, and started offering teacher trainings in this modality.

Life then took her to India; where she visited Iyengar’s Institute and spent time in Osho’s community in Puna as well as practicing with Sri.Pattabhi Jois in Mysore. Through the process of gaining more physical mastery of the asanas, Beta began to that she yearned for a deeper knowledge of the more spiritual side of yoga.

Her journey then took her to Tiruvannamalai, where she became absorbed by the teachings of Advaita Vedanta and other great masters, such as Mooji. Inspired by her teachers, Mooji and Prem Baba, her path then led her to the knowledge and teachings that would become to be an integral part of her life.

India still had more to teach her.

She studied Ayurvedic massage (Kusum Modak Method), which brought her therapeutic practice to a new level. In Rishikesh, she learned the power of living in devotion, developing a deep connection with Bhakti yoga practices.

Beta’s mindfulness teachings have been developed from a blend of Tibetan Tantric practices, Vipassana meditation and Zen Buddhism.

Studying yoga with such renowned teachers such as Simon Low and Sarah Powers not only gave her a new perspective on asana practice (a beautiful combination of Yin yoga and spiralling movements) but also taught her to be humble and mindful.

When she moved to Bali, she took a Yin Yoga teacher training with Denise Payne and a course in Bioeletric Matrix Craniosacral therapy with Dr. Adolf Brown.

More recently, she completed the BioDynamic Breath and Trauma Release® basic training and is a Somatic Experiencing facilitator using Peter Lavigne’s method.

The combination of all of Beta’s experience has led her to an integral blend of Yin yoga, Myofascial Release therapy, mindfulness meditation and breath work. Through this beautiful and synergistic combination of modules, she created The Dynamic Spiral and The Yin Fascial Yoga Educational Program.

Beta travels the world sharing her knowledge in workshops, retreat programs and teacher trainings.

About Sai CalderSai Calder

Sai has been involved in Eastern practices since the age of 5 where he was introduced to Judo and the elements of mindful practice in relation to body awareness and compassionate respect for others.

At 13 he was introduced to a Benedictine monk who introduced him to western spiritual sciences of ‘teilhard de chardin’, and other western esoteric enlightenment systems.

At 17 he came to study with Master Choy a Daoist master from China. Who taught the Taoist perspective to life, mindfulness, Qigong and internal cultivation. From there going to art Collage and studying as a painter and Graphic Designer, running Art studios. Deciding to leave the UK and be full time in Asia, Simon has been travelling and studying in India, Thailand, Nepal, Malaysia and Bali. Practicing with Shamans and Yogis in Nepal, Chinese Masters in Malaysia and Bali and Divine Yogis and Tantra teachers in India and Bali, for the last 13 years.

The culmination of these travels and practices has given a deeper understanding to the qualities and relationships to the connection between Mindfulness and the myofascial matrix, which is a profound passion to cultivate and share this incredible understanding through Yin Yoga, Qigong and Mindfulness. To produce a mind body understanding towards freedom through compassion.
