"5 Pieces of Candy"
Event Information
Description
Join us August 15-17 for Hope Stone Dance’s newest work 5 Pieces of Candy, conceived and choreographed by Artistic Director Jane Weiner. The work is inspired in part by the Moody’s recent exhibits by Tacita Dean and Gillian Wearing that shine a light on creativity and aging.
The performance will be set in the Moody’s Central Gallery, which is currently exhibiting Gillian Wearing: Rock ‘n’ Roll 70, a site-specific installation covering the wall with photographic portraits of the artist that have been digitally aged.
Like reaching into an assorted dish of candy, Weiner has picked four favorite solos and duets from Hope Stone Dance’s 22 years of history, and is also creating a new duet for Lindsey McGill, Hope Stone Dance’s longest active company member, and guest artist Jessica Collado (appearing courtesy of Houston Ballet, Principal).
Hope Stone Dance company artists performing are Jacquelyne Boe, Travis Prokop, Candace Tompkins, and Brit Wallis, with guest artists Shohei Iwahama, and appearing courtesy of Houston Ballet – Christopher Gray (Soloist) and Jessica Collado (Principal).
