Eric Groh was appointed by two Georgia governors to the Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers and Marriage and Family Therapists. For five years, he worked closely with the Secretary of State and the Attorney General’s Office handling licensee complaints. Eric has been a major stakeholder in the State of GA Compulsive Gambling program since 2002. He has provided consulting services to state and federal agencies in the areas of Problem Gambling and Hurricane Disaster Relief.

What happens when the GA Composite Board contacts me about a complaint? How do I apply ethics when I am concerned about a situation with a patient that could develop into a complaint? What if a colleague is engaging in questionable practice? We often encounter situations requiring us to make decisions about the ethical practice of peers. Participants will work in small groups and learn to analyze and evaluate facts and data necessary for understanding whether an ethical violation has occurred. Course Objectives:
1) Participants will develop investigative skills required to make determinations about ethics violations.
2) Participants will demonstrate knowledge of the structure of the board complaints process and the practical application of the rules section, "Ethics".
3) Participants will develop skills in implementing informal peer support approaches that promote ethical practice across the profession.
