Event description

Description

How many people do you know, or have you interacted with, who would readily admit and say that yes, they are racist?

Presumably no one.

How many people do you know who say things like, "I'm not racist..." or "that's not racist..." or "how is that racist?"

Arguably many people.

The majority of people self identify as not being a racist. But is it that easy? Being non-racist (or racist) and being anti-racist are not the same thing, so what are some differences? This webinar will help us to reflect on our own ideas about being a racist (or a non-racist), whether or not we are actually anti-racist, and why the differences matter.

This one hour online webinar is led by Tina Strawn, a black, queer, female, yoga teacher and anti-racism advocate, facilitator, student and educator. Tina is also the founder of Satya Yoga Trips, which are 3 day anti-racism/yoga weekends that take place in Montgomery, Alabama, where participants visit The National Memorial for Peace and Justice (also known as the lynching memorial) and The Legacy Museum: From Enslavement to Mass Incarceration, and use the practice and philosophy of yoga as tools to dismantle racism.

Upon registering, you will receive an email with instructions as to how to log onto the webinar. Please note that there are two date options for this webinar: Sunday, August 4, and Sunday August 18. These are the same webinar, just being offered on two different dates.

Participants will receive an overview of the webinar and an anti-racism resource list. No refunds.
