Rubenstein’s The American Experiment: Dialogues on a Dream (2021), a collection of warm, engaging, and informative interviews with prominent public figures that explore America’s past, present and future. The twenty-seven interviewees include Ken Burns, Billie Jean King, Wynton Marsalis, David McCullough, Sonia Sotomayor, and Cal Ripken, Jr. Divided into sections called Promise and Principle, Suffering and Sorrow, Restoration and Repair, Invention and Ingenuity, Creation and Culture, and Becoming and Belonging, the interviews reveal diverse perspectives on the American dream and celebrate the great American Experiment.
