About the Conference

Following the 3rd edition of the conference's overwhelming success in 2015 (780 dental professionals {89 International Dental Technicians for the Dental Technician Parallel Session}, 22 speakers all together from 43 countries and over 42 CE Credits), the 4th CAD/CAM & Digital Dentistry International Conference (#CADCAMSingapore) will be held on 19-20 August 2017 at Suntec in Singapore. The 4th edition of this growing event will this time fall under the umbrella Singapore Dental Week 2017 (#SDW) designed to target the business and educational needs of independent dental professionals.


Singapore Dental Week 2017 will include:

  • 4th CAD/CAM & Digital Dentistry Int’l Conference 2017
  • Dental Technician Parallel Session
  • Hands-on courses in various multidisciplinary topics (from 18 to 21 August 2017)
  • Exhibition of close to 35 leading dental manufacturers who will be there to exchange latest scientific breakthroughs and help dental professionals discover their latest products, technologies and services
  • 31 Presentations from over 20 world-class speakers who will showcase presentations in Digital Dentistry, CAD/CAM Chairside & Lab, Aesthetics, 3D Printing, Diagnostic Dentistry, CBCT, Aesthetic approach to CAD/CAM Materials, Smile Design, Smile Analysis, Prosthodontic Dentistry, Digital Orthodontic, Periodontology, Implantology, Pediatric Dentistry and Dental Laboratories.
  • Attendance of over 750 dental professional


Over the last twelve years CAD/CAM & Digital Dentistry has played a key role in underpinning the scientific understanding of digital dentistry. This is still very important today and the conference program addresses how to achieve effective results whilst updating delegates with the latest tips and tricks. To meet the goal, the Scientific Committee has selected a multitude of scientific sessions, panels, and problem-based cases that will provide both intensive learning through hands-on experiences and practitioners from diverse disciplines. Recent findings with clinical implications, practical tips and tricks, marketing, and emerging technologies will be covered through interactive sessions and live demonstrations, alongside essential knowledge revision and update sessions as well as hands-on demonstrations and practicals.

Born in Sydney, Australia, Associate Professor Patrick Tseng received his BDS from the National University of Singapore in 1985. He obtained his Masters of Science in Endodontics with Distinction from the University of London in 1990 and was awarded the National University Hospitals' Citation award in 1991.

Associate Professor Tseng is the Chief Dental Officer at the Ministry of Health of Singapore and the Registrar of the Singapore Dental Council. He is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry of the National University of Singapore and also a Senior Consultant with the Dental Services of the National University Hospital. He concurrently holds appointments as Chairman of the Specialist Accreditation Board and Chairman of the Oral Health Therapists Accreditation Committee. He is a member of the Board of the Endodontic Residency Programme of the National University of Singapore and a past President of the Singapore Dental Association. He is also the Associate Editor of the Singapore Dental Journal as well as a member of the Scientific Advisory Panel of the Journal of Endodontics (official scientific publication of the American Association of Endodontists) and the Hong Kong Dental Journal. He is a Founder member of the Society of Endodontists, Singapore and was awarded the Fellow of the International College of Dentists in 1997 and Fellow of the Academy of Dentists International in 1998.

Associate Professor Tseng has lectured and conducted hands-on and continuing education courses extensively locally, regionally and internationally.


Digital Orthodontic Pre-Conference Symposium

On Friday 18th August 2017, the Digital Orthodontic Pre-Conference Symposium will take place at Suntec, Level 3. The event will gather top key opinion leaders in Digital Orthodontics focusing on the latest trends and developments in Orthodontics. Digital dentistry can assist us in many ways, by assessing space and measuring the amount of crowding in cases, predicting treatment outcomes, assisting patients communication but also storing digitally model’s and treatment planning. With the introduction of 3D Printing in dentistry, the opportunities in Orthodontics have expanded from digital impression taking, to developing virtual treatment plans and 3D printing of dental models. The Digital Orthodontic Pre-Conference Symposium will illustrate the necessity for Orthodontists to look into digitalizing their working ways in order to save time, money and provide more efficient and effective treatments for the patients.

  • Dr Lawrence Lau graduated from Sydney University in 1997, BDS Honors, and opened his private practice in 1999. Since then he has opened 3 practices around Sydney Metro area.

    Dr Lau is an advocate of digital Dentistry and started with his own CAD CAM Chairside unit in 2004, shortly thereafter he certified as mentor and trainer for CEREC, CBCT and integrated Implantology. Besides that, he is very active in digital Orthodontics and is awarded as Invisalign Gold provider. Moreover, he is a WCLI Associate.

    In Australia, he runs independent Digital Dentistry training courses several times a year and well- known for his great expertise in digital dentistry giving tips and tricks to colleagues.

  • From 1985 to1989, Oliver Brix received his training as dental technician. Since 1989, he has been working as dental technician in various dental laboratories and dental practices. Oliver Brix specialises in the fields of esthetics and function, all-ceramics, biomechanical occlusal surface design and implantology. From 1990 to 1998 he participated in various national and international continuing education programs.

    He has been working as a freelancer for several dental practices in the field of functional and esthetic fixed prostheses since 1994. Furthermore, he has given continuing education courses and lectures on the topic of ceramics and esthetics on a worldwide basis since 1993. Oliver Brix is international guest lecturer and consultant to Ivoclar Vivadent AG. He has published various articles in national and international trade journals on the topic of ceramics and esthetics. He has been a member of the “Zahntechnischer Arbeitskreis Düsseldorf” (Dusseldorf study group of dental technicians) since 1997 and an active member of the “DGÄZ" (German association of esthetic dentistry) since 2000. In March 2001, he published the textbook “The Fundamentals of Esthetics”.



    Furthermore, Oliver Brix has been a member of the editorial board of AACD since 2007; he opened the International Training Centre in 2009 and the dental practice “Innovative Dental Design Oliver Brix”, Bad Homburg, Germany, in 2012. In March 2013, he published the textbook “Fascination Ceramics”.

  • Dr. Alexandros Manolakis was born in Thessaloniki, Greece. After graduating from the University of Freiburg in Germany in 2002, he received his Dr. Med. Dent. degree from the University of Göttingen in Germany in 2003. He was a visiting associate professor in the department of Periodontology in the University of Freiburg until 2004. After attending military service in Greece as a dentist, he maintains since 2006 a private practice specialising dental implants and aesthetic dentistry together with his brother, Kleanthis Manolakis, in Thessaloniki, Greece.

    Dr. Alexandros Manolakis is coauthor of a German Periodontology Textbook (Praxis der Zahnheilkunde, Parodontologie, 4th Ed; Elsevier, 2005), author of various publications and an international lecturer.

    He is an official teaching mentor for different dental implant systems and he is giving hands-on courses with live-surgeries in implantology, soft-tissue-management and bonemanagement. Areas of special interest include Periodontal Micro-Surgery, Computer-Guided Implant Placement, Immediate Loading of Implants placed in the Edentulous Jaw, Applications of chairside CAD/CAM and 3D-Printing in Implantology.

    He is an member of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (EAED affiliate) and the Computer Aided Implantology (CAI) Academy.

    Dr. Alexandros Manolakis is co-editor-in-chief of the greek journals Dentorama and Dental Journal.
