4th Annual Voices of Strength: A Night of Expression
Saturday, November 16, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM (EST)
Voices of Strength:Night of Expression is an annual event presented by the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay in collaboration with the Sexual Violence Task Force and hosted by the Carrollwood Cultural Center, dedicated to empowering survivors through a creative lens. At Voices of Strength, survivors have the opportunity to express themselves through poetry, art, music, dance, comedy, and writings about the journey of recovery from sexual violence and the transformation into empowerment.
In addition, survivors who have participated in the Creative Movement Empowerment Workshop series (in collaboration with the Creative Movement Company and the Family Justice Center) will be given the opporutnity to showcase their messages of hope.
If you are a survivor and are interested in performing, please contact Marilyn Shamblin at firstname.lastname@example.org. All participants will have a 3-5 minute window of presentation, but there is a limited number of open positions, so please RSVP today!
There will be an Open Mic after the intermission which will give survivors in the audience the opportunity to share their messages of empowerment and transformation.
A silent auction and bake sale will take place during the event to raise funds for future workshops and events. The items to be auctioned consist of survivor-made artwork, jewelry, and other miscellaneous items. If you are a survivor and would like to donate something you have made to be auctioned, please email Marilyn Shamblin at email@example.com.
This event will take place on Saturday, November 16th from 4:00pm -7:00pm at the Carrollwood Cultural Center. We are looking forward to spending this beautiful evening of transformation and inspiration with you!
