(Virtual) Trauma & Attachment Symposium
Sensory Integration, Praxis, and Developmental Trauma: Impact on Attachment and Participation
Post-Symposium Program Evaluation for Attendees:
Overview
There is an increasing awareness of the relationship of sensory integration and processing challenges to trauma and attachment concerns. However, awareness of the role of motor performance and praxis challenges in this population remains largely unrecognized. This presentation will introduce participants to core concepts of trauma and attachment concerns in individuals across the lifespan and related challenges to sensory integration and praxis functioning. The neurobiology underlying trauma, sensory integration, and processing problems and praxis will be explored along with the relationship between these difficulties. Key intervention considerations for those working with individuals with these challenges will be presented. The role of Polyvagal Theory in understanding and addressing these concerns will also be explored.
