Description

A furry and festive event raising funds and awareness for the Harbor Hospice Foundation is on the way April 2019!

The 4th Annual Pooches & People Picnic is a fundraiser which supports The Bob & Merle Scolnik Healing Center of Harbor Hospice – the only grief and loss center in Muskegon County which offers free grief support (groups and counseling services) to children, teens and adults in our community who are dealing with a loss of any kind.

The Scolnik Healing Center has professionally trained and licensed grief counselors who offer individual and family grief counseling and grief groups at no cost, and also conduct in-services for physician offices, home care agencies, school staff, and other agencies. Past Pooches & People Picnic events have included a Dog Walk on the Ruff Ruff Route, on-site nail clipping and microchipping, Doggie Cake Walk, Paw-Print Painting Booth, delicious picnic lunch, auction and raffle! In 2019 we will also have a Canine Costume Parade, a Smooches with Pooches kissing booth, and so much more!

This page is for ordering event t-shirts and those registering in advance for the Canine Costume Contest on the Ruff Ruff Route. Day of event anyone can attend for *FREE (*most events will be no-charge with BARKING BUCKS or small fee for lunch and certain activities) Tickets and pre-ordered t-shirts online do incur small processing fee.

IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE YOU COMPLETE YOUR REGISTRATION. By completing registration you are acknowledging all items listed below.

  • Liability Waiver: I hereby waive and release all rights and claims for damages against the Harbor Hospice Foundation (HHF), Harbor Hospice, and The Bob & Merle Scolnik Healing Center, and all officers, members and families personally for all loss, damage, or injuries which may be sustained by me, my pet or any family member(s) while participating in the event. I understand the content of the program and the risks of personal injury herein. Please note all dogs are to be leashed and those not will be asked to leave the event and premises. I further agree to indemnify and hold harmless all parties listed above and each of its members from any claim for loss or damage or injury to myself or any member of my family arising from or in connection with any participation in the event.
  • Medical Assistance: I understand there may be NO medical help on the parade walk or at event. I give my permission for the event host (HHF) and its program participants to admit me or my family member(s) for EMERGENCY medical treatment that may become necessary as a result of a medical emergency during this program. I will tell an event staff/volunteer if I have any issue that could affect the walk and parade. I will take full responsibility for my own well-being. No one but me is responsible for my safety when I choose to challenge my capabilities or personal health conditions. I take responsibility for having appropriate skills and physical conditioning, equipment and supplies for these activities.
  • Event Cancellation: The event host (HHF) reserves the right to terminate the activity if he/she believes the group or an individual’s health or safety is in jeopardy or should there be other circumstances such as inclement weather, etc. No refunds will be issued under these circumstances.

Event will be held on the grounds of Fricano Place at 1050 W. Western Avenue, Muskegon, Michigan. Front and rear event parking in designated and marked parking lots will be available.
