Event Details

All proceeds from the event will benefit Lamar County Sheriff’s Office Community Affairs Programs.  Over the years we have developed a wide range of program topics covering issues that affect today’s citizens.  Each program is presented by a deputy who has been trained in crime prevention and program presentation.  All programs are available to any group upon request.  We try to accommodate requests on almost any topic.  Programs frequently provided include neighborhood watch, church security consultations, E-911 education, car seat installation and drug and alcohol awareness. We have several ongoing programs offered year round by the Sheriff’s Office at no cost to anyone living or working in Lamar County including CHAMPS (Choosing Healthy Activities and Methods Promoting Safety), CHAMPS Summer Camp, Law Enforcement Explorers and Citizens Firearms Safety Courses.

Every agency experiences shortfalls in funding for programs such as these over the years and budget crunches of recent years have left the programs completely unfunded by the County.  The ability to continue to provide programs like this free of charge to the community is contingent on gathering the necessary funding from other sources.  The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office has made use of several funding opportunities over the years including the use of forfeited drug funds, grants and the generous donations received from supporters.  The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office is more committed than ever to further our goal of promoting our partnership with the community.  This objective is the core of the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office Mission Statement and serves as the benchmark for every activity we conduct.  It is with this mission in mind that we are embarking on this fundraising opportunity.
