About this event

Established through the Industrial Decarbonisation Challenge, the UK Industrial Decarbonisation Research and Innovation Centre (IDRIC) is a UKRI-funded research and innovation centre, working to support the decarbonisation of the UK's industrial clusters through a programme of multidisciplinary research and innovation.

Collaborating with research organisations, industry, government, policymakers, NGOs, trade organisations and the public, we are co-creating whole-system multidisciplinary solutions with the aim of accelerating the green futures of our industries. Our current portfolio includes 42 research projects, covering a spectrum of activities from key enabling technologies, such as CCUS and Hydrogen, to systems integration, socioeconomics, policy and regulation.

To build upon this existing research portfolio, IDRIC is allocating further resources to support industrial decarbonisation through research and knowledge exchange, this allocation includes:

  • a second wave of industry-focussed research projects,
  • a secondment scheme to facilitate exchange of expertise,
  • a rolling flexible funding mechanism to respond to pressing needs.

We are working towards specific call launch dates for these three funding streams in October 2022 (final dates to be announced following UKRI approval). We are bringing together the key actors in the Humber industrial cluster together with academic experts to discuss research and innovation needs, and lay the groundwork for collaborative partnerships to ensure the most effective investment opportunities are identified in relation to these funding streams.

This event also gives an opportunity for researchers to engage with representatives from local industry and hear first-hand about the activities in their region.

The IDRIC Humber Regional Meeting also includes an optional trip to the “the Cave”, the Phillips 66 Refinery’s brand new, state-of-the-art virtual reality training facility featuring floor-to ceiling floor-to-ceiling screens to give you the sense that you are walking through the refinery.
