Event description

Description

In 1619, a small group of America’s first Africans arrived in Point Comfort, Virginia. This event marked the beginning of slavery. The Point Comfort arrival, striped Africans from their innate knowledge and power as a people, that the family unit still strides to overcome today.

The “400 Years Later Art Exhibition” is in an open to the public event filled with art and live performance for the entire family. This event will showcase artwork created by local Los Angeles artist, depicting the triumphs and successes of the African American community from 1619 to today.

Colossal Contributions has also partnered with LAUSD students from low income communities to submit their artwork. A percentage of the proceeds from the 400 Years Later Art Exhibit will provide selected student art pieces with a chance to win art supplies for their classroom.

Performances begin promptly at 12:00pm. LAUSD students winning pieces will be announced at 4:00pm.
