Description

Are you interested in working with youth?

Would you like to share your passions and knowledge with the future generations?

Would you like to learn new skills, such as technology, marketing, teaching, and many more?

Are you a youth educator looking for supplements to your normal curriculum?

...Then the 4-H SPARK Academy may be right for you!

Robots do surgery, build cars, and even vacuum floors. Help kids explore the world of robotics by learning to teach kids to build and program your their own robots to solve complex and fun challenges. This session of the SPARK academy will focus on budget-friendly, easy to teach, robotics activities.

The 4-H SPARK Academy is a 3-day (12 hours plus online) course to train and certify new volunteers to become 4-H project leaders and curriculum facilitators, specifically for robotics. The class of volunteers will attend trainings on selected dates in May and June for four hours, with each meeting focusing on different Junk Drawer Robotics activities. The 4-H agent, invited speakers, and senior volunteers will lead the trainings.

Once the training series is completed, volunteers will become certified 4-H project leaders that can begin teaching and educating in schools, clubs, etc. in Pinellas County. Volunteers will be able to share knowledge they have learned in the training and things they are passionate about with school-aged children in the community. There will be an annual commitment of time volunteered that the certified volunteers must agree to give annually to retain the certification.

This program is completely free and would be great addition to any resume or for anyone that is simply looking to give back to their community. Youth educators will come away with the knowledge and training in a new curriculum and how to implement this curriculum in their setting. Great for traditional educations interested in 4-H in or after school partnerships, home school educators, or any other non-traditional educator.

The remaining dates will be May 19, June 2, and 9.
