4-H Selma Re-enactment March
Event Information
Description
CALLING ALL ELECTED OFFICIALS, YOUTH GROUPS, COMMUNITY LEADERS, EVERYONE!
Join us in the reenactment of the Historical 1965 March from Selma, Alabama to Montgomery, Alabama. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led this march to raise awareness of difficulties faced by black voters, and the need for a national Voting Rights Act.
On March 25, 2018, we will march to commemorate Dr. King's 50th Assassination as he fought tirelessly for equal rights. Join us as we commemorate Dr. King's legacy as we walk from Chamberlain Ball park (319 McCreery Ave.) to the Old State Capitol in the Spirit of Dr. King. At the Old State Capitol we will have a program consisting of dancing, singing, and one of Dr. King's most powerful speeches-ALL YOUTH LED!
