4-H Family Camping Weekend

Open to 4-H members and their families. Must pre-register!  Sign up is first come first served.  4-Hers must attend with a relative or other adult such as a leader.

 

Cost:  See the registration form for prices.  All youth and adult participants pay a $25  registration fee for meals, insurance and activities.  We have reserved the group camp site.  

 

You MUST bring your own tent and camping supplies.  None will be provided.  This site offers primitive camping.

 

 

Make checks payable to Osceola County 4-H Association.  Families must register and pay all fees on Eventbrite OR bring to the Extension Office by Monday, March 18, 2013 so we have time to buy supplies for the weekend.

Campers will meet in the parking area at 9 am.

You CAN survive the weekend with no electronics!! No cell phones (emergencies only), video games, remote control toys, radios, mp3 players, ipods,  pets, alcohol, firearms, etc.

 ·        Learn about the Florida 4-H Camping program and natural resources in our own backyeard.

 ·         Meet other 4-H youth and families interested in camping and the outdoors. 

 ·         Open to 4-H members  and their families enrolled in an Osceola County 4-H club.  Call 321-697-3000 to find out how to join.

·         Any 4-Hers ages 8 -18 are eligible to participate for free in the 4-H Shooting Sports activities on Saturday morning.  Please indicate that on your registration, but selecting the free 4-H Shooting Sports ticket.  Certified 4-H Shooting Sports instructors are certified by the National 4-H Shooting Sports Program. 

 ·         Parents and interested adults are encouraged to attend.

Events to be held at:Lake Lizzie Preserve

East of St. Cloud – Highway 192 to left onto Pine Grove Road, Right onto Bass Highway to Midland to the Park entrance on the right.    Wait in the Parking lot located at this north entrance to the park. We will be escorted to the shooting range at the youth camp area.

NOTE: Be aware that there is no firearms use in the park except for these scheduled 4-H activities at the designated location while 4-H certified shooting sports instructors are present. Osceola County does not allow the public to use firearms in the park. WE have special approval for our 4-H organized activities.

 

Bring chairs, water, and sunscreen.  There is no water available at the site.  We do have restroom facilites.  Shooting Sports equipment is not required at this time.

If you want to visit the park at another time, there is also an entrance at the south end for hiking, biking and equestrian users.  Enter off Old Melbourne Highway from Highway 192.
