Event Details

Summit County’s canines will take a stand against abuse in Wallhaven’s Hardesty Park on August 18, or more accurately, they’ll walk against abuse at the 3rd Annual Walk & Wag Against Abuse fundraiser.

Dogs, women, men, and children are all welcome at this fun, family-friendly event supporting the important efforts of the Battered Women’s Shelter of Summit and Medina Counties.  In 2011 alone, this agency provided services to approximately 6,000 individuals.

Charity Dog Walk
Take a lovely walk through the park with your dogs and collect money to do it.  Ask friends, family and everyone you know to help you make a difference by sponsoring your walk.

Don’t have a dog?  No problem.  You can still collect sponsorships and participate.

We’re asking everyone to set a fundraising goal for their dogs and themselves.  If every dog (or human) walking raises at least $100, that short walk can make big impact!  Does $100 seem like a lot of money?  The Charity Dog Walk Sponsorship Form has some helpful suggestions; you can print your forms by going to the "upcoming events" section of www.scmcbws.org.  You may be surprised by how much money you can raise.

Have you ever wondered what your pet is really thinking?  A friendly pet psychic will be at the park to give you some insight.

Give-a-Ways
As a token of appreciation, participants in the fundraising walk will be given a custom printed Wag Bag, so they can show off how committed they are to making a difference throughout the year.  You may also find a few more treats for your dog and for you at the park that day.

Contests & Prizes
How much money can your dog collect in sponsorships?  If your dog raises the most, you’ll walk away with a sweet plaque that will announce to everyone that your dog is the man.

Are you walking without a canine companion?  No problem; you’ll still be in the running for an award.

Be on the lookout for contests throughout the park too!  You might walk away with some additional loot.
