John is the founder of the law firmMontgomery & Hansen. He is also the founder of Startworks, a Silicon Valley-based technology incubator that develops start-ups to thrive in an interdependent global economy. He was also a co-chair of the legal working group behind California’s new benefit corporation legislation.  John is currently co-founding an international management consultancy to empower established European and American businesses to become iconic representatives of the emerging, sustainable global economic system.

Prashant Shah, Charter Member - TiE Angels
Prashant Shah has been an early stage venture investor since 2001. He is an active Charter Member of TiE Silicon Valley (sv.tie.org), a member of its Board of Directors, and Head of TiE Angels. Previously, he spent nearly 10 years at Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, and early stage VC focused on enterprise and infrastructure software. Prior to Hummer Winblad, Prashant spent many years defining and launching high tech products. His background spans all seven layers of the OSI stack with product management roles at enCommerce (acquired by Entrust), Cypress Semiconductor and AT&T. In addition, he was on the Board of Trustees for Astia (www.astia.org), a non-profit that advances women in high-tech entrepreneurship. Prashant received a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Joe Flynn, Founder and CEO - Lavante, Inc.
Joe Flynn co-founded Lavante in 2001 with the vision of transforming the traditionally manual-based AP audit recovery industry through the use of sophisticated on-demand technologies. Through its rapid growth and premier client list, Lavante has since been recognized as the on-demand leader and innovator in the areas of Supplier Information Management and Profit Recovery.  Selected as one of the 40 leading executives under the age of 40 in 2009 by the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal, Joe was twice named as one of the Top 50 Irish Americans in Technology in the Silicon Valley by the Irish Technology Leadership Group, ITLG and was recently selected as one of the, “Pros to Know” by Supply & Demand Chain Executive magazine

Jonny Price, Program Director - KIVAZip
Jonny first came to Kiva in 2009 as a volunteer on a 5-month externship from his management consulting firm Oliver Wyman. After 6 years at Oliver Wyman, first in London and then in San Francisco, he joined Kiva full-time in September 2011, to lead the Kiva Zip pilot project. He graduated with a BA in History from the University of Cambridge, where he represented his college at 14 sports (although 3 of these were table football, pool and chess).

Lori has over 25 years of experience in conducting and participating in various federal procurement conferences, workshops, seminars, and trade fairs.  She provides information on how to do business with GSA as well as tips on doing business with the federal government.  She is a member of the Department of Defense Small Business Advocacy Council.

Dr. Steele joined San Jose State University in July, 2008 as Dean, College of Business and Lucas Graduate School of Business. Previously, he was Dean of the Silberman College of Business at Fairleigh Dickinson University, the largest private university in New Jersey. He was also Professor and Dean of the College of Business at Florida Institute of Technology, a leader in science, engineering and business in the Florida “Space Coast”. Dr. Steele also has over 25 years of richly varied executive experience in global business development, finance, and engineering in the petroleum and IT industries. He rose through the ranks of Chevron Corporation (ranked Fortune # 3 today) to become President of Chevron Latin America.

Prior to that he was a managing consultant for MANEX and a 30 year veteran of semiconductor industry.

Honorable Chuck Reed, Mayor of San Jose
Chuck Reed was elected as the 64th Mayor of San José in 2006, after serving six years on the City Council.  Since taking office, Mayor Reed has been committed to improving the quality of life in the city, boosting the public’s trust in local government, and eliminating the City’s structural budget deficit. His top priorities during his second term are to restore police services after a decade of budget cuts, bring new jobs to San José, and implement much-needed fiscal reforms to solve the City’s enduring budget problems.

Consul General of the Netherlands Bart van Bolhuis
Bart van Bolhuis was appointed as representative for the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the 13 westernmost United States in August 2009. He and his team, based in San Francisco and Los Angeles, focus on mutual investments in innovation: water and energy, food and nutrition, life science and health, and creative industries.  From 2003 to 2009, Bart van Bolhuis was Director for Foreign Trade and Investment at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Secretary of the Dutch Trade Board. Bart has been and continues to be an advocate for private-public cooperation designed to increase Dutch competitiveness in globalizing markets. In this regard, he took the initiative for the creation of the Dutch Design Fashion and Architecture cooperation.  He has also served in the UN Department at the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and at the Ministry of Economic Affairs.  Bart van Bolhuis holds a Master’s Degree in International Law from the University of Amsterdam.

Olivier Minkowski is the founder of Europort, a local non-profit organization that develops business, technological and scientific partnerships between the European Union and companies and agencies in the United States, focusing on the Silicon Valley. Europort is today one of the main point of contact for European Affairs in the San Francisco Bay Area.  Mr. Minkowski is a social entrepreneur with over 15 years of technological and business practice throughout Europe, the Middle East and North America.  Mr. Minkowski holds a B. A. in International Relations and a M.A. in Diplomacy and Security.

The Economic Institute produces authoritative analyses on major economic policy issues, including infrastructure, globalization, energy, science & technology, and governance, and mobilizes California and Bay Area leaders around targeted policy initiatives.

Dr. Randolph has previously served as President & CEO of the Bay Area Economic Forum, which merged with the Bay Area Council in January 2008, and as director of international trade for the State of California, where he developed trade strategy and directed international business programs to stimulate exports and introduce California companies to overseas markets. Before service with the state, he was Managing Director of the RSR Pacific Group, an international business consulting firm specializing in Asia and Latin America, and prior to that served as International Director General of the Pacific Basin Economic Council, a 15-nation international organization of leading U.S., Asian and Latin American corporations.

He advises and consults technology startups as a Mentor at 500 Startups, the world’s leading seed venture capital firm; at Innovation Nest Accelerate.

Fernando Sepulveda, ImpulsaXL Business Accelerator
Founder and CEO of Impulsa one of the fastest growing Buiness Accelerator with offices in United States, Mexico, Peru and Sweden. 
Prior to founding the Impulsa Group, Fernando, a Harvard graduate, was an Associate Principal at McKinsey & Company Inc. and has served as an advisor to the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education in Mexico.

Joanne Vliet, US Department of Commerce
Joanne Vliet directs the U.S. Commercial Service’s Silicon Valley office, which provides a variety of services to U.S. companies seeking to enhance their growth and competitiveness through exporting. She previously managed international programs at the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce and the Texas Department of Economic Development.  Joanne is a Marshall Memorial Fellow and a graduate of UT-Austin with a degree in Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.

Paraic Hayes, IDA Ireland
Páraic Hayes was appointed in January 2012 to IDA Ireland’s Silicon Valley office; the agency responsible for the attraction and development of foreign investment in Ireland including companies like Google, facebook, twitter, Apple, LinkedIn, eBay, Dropbox and many more. Páraic is responsible for advising Bay Area Technology companies who are internationalizing for the first time, and need a Gateway to the European market. Paraic also spent office over 6 years in IDA’s Chicago office where he covered the Lifesciences and Food sector throughout the US Mid-West and South East. Prior to joining IDA Páraic spent 8 years in marketing and business consultancy roles within the European IT and Software sector. He is a graduate of Waterford Institute of Technology and Berlin Business School.

Daniel Zimmerman, Wilmerhale
Daniel Zimmermann is a partner in the Transactional Department, and a member of the Corporate at Wilmerhale from 2011 and Chairman at the Board of Directors for the German American Business Association (GABA).  Mr. Zimmermann’s practice draws on his extensive experience in complex corporate transactions and venture technology issues. His experience includes advising emerging growth companies and technology startups on a variety of corporate governance and finance matters, as well as exit transactions such as public offerings and mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Zimmermann further counsels Silicon Valley-based venture capital firms, as well as global venture and private equity funds in their portfolio investments in the US and abroad.  Daniel’s practice also has an international focus that involves the regular representation of clients in global expansions and off-shore acquisitions by US companies.  He has served as chair of the Executive Committee of the International Law Section of the State Bar of California for the 2009-2010 term and has also served as vice president and board member of the German-American International School of Silicon Valley. Daniel is recognized as "Up and Coming" in the 2011 edition of Chambers USA for his corporate/M&A and venture capital practice.
